6 days with beautiful nature and fresh air
Live in the old water mill in the beautiful valley
The Czech water mill is situated about one hour drive west of Prague in picturesque surroundings. The first mill was build more than 500 years ago and is mentioned in the historical records for the first time in 1549. Since then the mill and the surrounding buildings have been replaced several times and the present mill is from 1911. The mill has been in the Cech family for many generations and Petr and Alexandra are the 4th generation to live there. Next to the water mill is a small hydropower plant and the old original machinery can be seen on display in a museum right next to the hydropower plant. The Cech hydropower plant was one of the first in Czech Republic to deliver electricity to surrounding villages, so it is truly a historical place to visit.
Connect with amazing nature
The mill is situated in a small valley just next to the river Berounka and is a locally well known holiday spot in the area. In the surrounding area you can also find a camping site, several hotels and summer cabins. The nature is varied and you can find everything from forests and cliffs to lawns and open lush landscapes. It is also possible to go for a swim in the river or take a trip in a canoe. The weather in the summer is usually really nice with sunshine and around 25-30 degrees Celsius. If there is a heat wave it can get even warmer.
Enjoy amazing nature and fresh air. Explore the edible garden or the greenhouse, go for a swim in the river or take a walk in the forest.
The edible garden
Every summer Petr and Alexandra grow some of their own food. Depending on the season, you can usually find melons, strawberries, blueberries, apples, tomatoes, raspberries, blackberries, cucumbers, peaches, apricots, nectarines, golden berries, figs, grapes, herbs, zucchini and lettuce in the garden and green house. In the area you can also find cherries, plums and lots of edible weeds that we can potentially use in our green smoothies. During the retreat you will get a tour of the edible garden and Petr will share how he grows his own food using no pesticides or other chemicals.
The healing place in the forest
Approximately 150 meters from the mill you will find a really special place. It is known as the ‘Czech Lourdes’ and is a place in the forest where two tectonic plates meet. This creates a special geomagnetic frequency from the ground of about 8Hz. This frequency is very close to that of the brain when you meditate in the Alpha state and some people report a tingling sensation in their feet while others experience health improvements after visiting the spot. If the weather allows we will meditate every morning at this exact spot.
More nearby attractions
In the nearby area you can find a couple of hotels and it is possible to go there and play tennis. If you like history you can go for a 4 km walk down the river to the 1.000 year old castle ruins. Another historical experience is to visit the small museum dedicated to the electricity plant itself, located right next to the main building. There are also several small villages in the area, where you can explore country living in Czech Republic.
Meet the hosts
This video is a small portrait of Petr and Alexandra from 2014, when they had not lived in the mill for very long. Here they share more about the place, their backgrounds, the fruit garden and the greenhouse and you will get an idea of what you can expect. A lot has of course happened since 2014 and today they have a little son.
